Brian Tracys 7 Steps To Success

One of my favourite videos of Brian Tracy is “Success is a journey”. He tells his “Sahara Story”, a story of a Sahara crossing which he persued in his twenties with friends and always connects the quiet appelling story with life and success lessons.

My favourite quotation in his speech:

“Set a goal and stay with it untill you achieve it. When you have achieved it, your subconscious mind will store this success as a pattern, a template. From then on, your subconscious mind will guide and direct you to repeat the pattern of success in other things you are trying to attempt. In other words: nothing succeeds like success. [...] Once you experience your first success, it brings you a natural high – all high achievers know that.”
Brians 7 rules to success:

1. Decide upon a goal – lauch and take action. Goal setting is considered to be the deciding factor in achieving success. Goals are your compass – where should your boat sail without a compass?

2. Never consider the option of failure. “always forward, never backward”. You surely heart of the “law of attraction”. It means that you attract what you believe in – so believe in your success, not your possible failure. Focus the positive outcome of your action!

3. Go one step at a time. “The only time you have is now”. Very much a Zen-attitude – there is only one time to live, and this is the actual moment. This is the only time that counts, so make it count!

4. Get around winners. “Fly with the eagles”. Learn from the best and get motivated by them! There is a reason why winners are winners, they follow certain rules.

5. Obstacls and difficulties come not to obstruct, but to instruct. Never give up. always stay positive and learn from your mistakes. Keep your strong will to achieve your goal, not matter what.

6. Be clear about your goals, but keep your mind open – stay flexible to correct your course.”This is a key quality of peak performers – it is not what you have, but what you do with what you have what separates winners from losers. It is not what happens to you, but how you respond to what happens to you that counts. In the final analysis the response to the adversity of life is the real measure of who you are and what you are made of.”

7. No one does it alone. “Do not be afraid to ask for help – it is a mark of strength, courage and character. Do not be reluctant to give help to others generously, it is a mark of caring, compassion and personal greatness.”
